The corporate management system is responsible for all other public services such as establishing and giving ICT courses to staff, manage assets and also control the Service Desk or ServisDesk@PPKT. ServisDesk@PPKT is a new service that started from 2008. ServisDesk@PPKT serves as the main centre for complaints and request from the entire campus of USM.

The scope of services includes Planning, Implementation, Management, Coordination, Monitoring, Improvement and Strategic Management Consulting Services PPKT, Training Service and Asset Management Service. Among the services available in the corporate section are:

a)      Strategic Management Services:

·         Analyze the ICT services offered by PPKT.
·         Recommend improvements to service and give more strategic direction for the short term and long term.
·         Identifying, exploring and highlighting the principles, tools, new ideas, techniques and so on for the adjusted or adapted to the PPKT environment towards improving service, quality, output, KPI and etc.

b)      Training Services:

·         Plan and implement ICT Training for staff and community outside of USM.
·         Identify the needs and development of ICT training module.
·         Increase the use of computer labs to USM.
·         Give access to outside community to use the computer labs.
·         Assists problem that related to ICT software.
·         Provide assistance and support to the activities of the technical requirements in E-learning.

c)      ICT Asset Management Services:

·         Manage all assets of PPKT from acquisition process until disposal process.
·         Manage the disposal process of all assets in PTJ USM.
·         Provide online assets management platform.

Infostructure section is an important asset of PPKT whereas the infrastructure network system         provided under this section is the main facility in PPKT. This section also involved in the                     management of the phone (PABX), smart card hardware, video conference facilities and servers.         In addition, another focus area of this section is given on ICT security. 

The scope of services includes Planning, Implementation, Management, Coordination,                   Monitoring, Improvement and Consultancy for USMNet Network Services, Security Services             Telecommunications Services and ICT. Among the services available in parts of this                             infrastructure are:

a)      Network Services

·         Provide and manage the network infrastructure including LAN (Local Area Network),                           MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network) comfortable, stiff                          (robust), reliable and safe (secure) to support all the needs of other ICT and USM Citizens                        generally.
  •   Provide access to MYREN and EGNet Networks.
  • Provide IP Address Management (Internet Protocol) and Registration FQDN for the                               needs of the equipment and hardware in the network.
  • Provide and manage the needs of the wired network and wireless networks to support the                     activities USM
  • Resolution of complaints ServisDesk@PPKT Network Services Platform
  • Provide training related to Information Sharing Network.
  • Provide and manage the needs of the wired network and wireless networks to support the                      activities.
  •             
    b)      Telecommunication Services

  • Provide and manage the infrastructure telephone which is rigid, reliable and secure to be used                by USM Citien.
  •   Provides Online Billing for phone storage.
  •   Provide Platform Telephone Directory (http://www.tcom.usm.my)
  •  Provide technical assistance for Video Teleconferencing Sessions.
  •  Provide the needs of phone, teleconference audio and video teleconferencing to support all                      activities in USM.
  • Resolve the complaints that have been made at ServisDesk@PPKT.
  •             
    c)      ICT Services 
    • Provide and manage Infrastructure Authentication through @ USM AD (Active                            Directory) to reference all ICT services.
    •  Provide and manage Endpoint equipment and hardware requirements
    • Prepare and Managing Digital Certificate requirements.
    • Implement Server and Application audit based on request as well as incidents.
    • Provide and manage anti-spam resolution, data recovery system and also server patch. 

    2.4.3    Applications, Web and Multimedia Section

           Section of Application, Web and Multimedia or also known as SAWM was created in order to carry out work on the development of large-scale campus system, central responsibility or shaped as ‘ad-hoc’. The main focus for this section is to develop applications which are suitable to be used by not only PPKT but other departments as well according to their requests and needs.

         Besides, this section will also responsible in ensuring the maintenance of the system routine operations in the main university of the University Information System for both students and staffs (SMUS & SMUP).

         The scope of services includes Planning, Implementation, Management, Coordination, Monitoring, Improvement and Consultancy services for University Student Information System, University of Staff Service Information Systems and Web Services. Among the services available in the section of this application are:

    a)      University Information System – Staff (SMUS):

    ·         Prepare, manage, monitor and improve the Online Platform (System) which capable in managing the daily operations of the university with excellent, efficient and smooth.
    ·         Automate processes human resources.
    ·         Provide training and instructions to the user before the system being implemented and periodic training based on the needs.
    ·         Provide an online platform in order to ease the staffs.
    ·         Assists government by providing training for E-government system.
    ·         Provide consulting services to agencies that require.
    ·         Provide data, reports and statistics related to various parties.

    b)      University Information System – Students (SMUP):

    ·         Provide an integration system so that the information will be always up-to-date.
    ·         Provide reports and statistics.
    ·         Provide application maintenance for both client and web-based
    ·         Provide an application which is useful to help the administration and academic affair.
    ·         Provides online platform to facilitate students and lecturers.
    ·         Provide OMR processing services to PTJ and External Agencies USM and manage the processing and printing of University.

    c)      University Information System – Clinical:

    ·         Provide an online platform to ease the service of dental appointment.
    ·         Provide training and instructions to the user before implement the system and proved periodical training as well.
    ·         Provide, manage, monitor and improve the Online Platform (System) capable of managing the operations of the Clinical University with good services, efficient and smooth.
    ·         Provide data, reports and ad-hoc statistics related to various parties.

    d)     Web Services:

    ·         Provide easy access to information by develop a dynamic, innovative and of course user friendly website.
    ·         Provide training and awareness to website administrator regards to data updates, patches and hacker attacks as well.
    ·         Assists in preparation of university website.
    ·         Provide advice and help on technical matters regarding websites.
    ·         Provide website to external organization which interested.
    ·         Be a mentor to several government agencies to KPT.
